Tokyo's

Urban Design

Tokyo is the largest urban area in the world with approximately 37.6 million people residing in an area of roughly 7,600 square kilometers. Land use in cities this big can be a really difficult challenge, specially when you talk about combining residential and commercial areas in a space limited by its square acreage. Tokyo's landscape has changed many times over the years. Each district of Tokyo has their own form of modernization while still retaining the Japanese culture. This is showed through either the preserving of historical monuments or the celebrating of traditional details in new renovations. This section is split up into different landmarks found in different districts of Tokyo.
